History:
Cusco is the oldest living city in the Americas, The first human settlements date back to 3,000 years. Since then this place has been continuously inhabited up to nowadays.
Cusco was "The promised land" to the founders of the Inkas empire. A Nation who moved from the Titikaka shores towards a mountain Valley in search of a most livable area.
In this area they started the most important political project of old times.

A Commonwealth of Nations that put together under one political leaderships, remote regions as the Coastal valleys and deserts (chinchaysuyo), The mountain picks and valleys (Kuntisuyo) The Amazon basin (Antisuyo) and the high plateau towards the Titikaka lake (Kollasuyo) All four territories together formed the tawantinsuyo (Four quarters of the world) later known as the Inkas Empire which at its splendor had 15 million people, a sub continental territory, a road system with over 15,000 miles of well furnished trails, an economy that allowed a great super plus of production and administrative systems that was so efficient that still amazes everybody. Developed between the 11th and 16th century, the Inkas had its top achievements under the Pachakuteq's ruling (!,400sHe was later known for being the "Organizer" of Tawantinsuyo or the transformer of the world as his name means.
Later, upon the arrival of Spanish Cusco became the center where the two greatest cultures of the planet met. In fact. There was no greater Culture in the Americas as there was no greater culture than Spain. Out of the encounter the world witnessed the birth of the Mestizo civilization. Nowadays Cusco bears the pride for both streams of their blood.

Population: Cusco has a population of over 350,000 people

Economy: Based in the Tourism and related services, Cusco's Economy is one of the most dynamic amongst Peru's Regions, Other activities are Mining and Agriculture. Huge energy projects are under construction nowadays (Camisea gas project).

Recognition: Cusco has been appointed as a Cultural Heritage of the word by the UNESCO, is also known as Archaeological Capital of America, and Peru's Historical Capital.

Weather: Cusco as the Andean Region of in South America, has a veryspecial combination of latitude (tropical) and altitude (Up to 23,000 feet)

That causes that we only have two seasons:
1. Dry : May to November
2. Rain: November to May.

Temperature average goes around 59 for dry season & 34 f. for wet season During the rainy season we get heavy showers but we still have sunny days, During the wet season, we may have freezing temperatures by night time while during the day we have pleasant sunny days.
